On Wednesday the 28th of January the famous author Dan Freedman came to visit a group of year 7 boys at Bishop Challoner School. The reason Dan Freedman came to Bishop Challoner is because he wanted to give us advice to help us improve our English and inspire us to always give 100% in our english lessons. He advised us to never give up but instead to persevere.
Dan told us a short story about his life, first of all when he was young he enjoyed playing football so much he went for a trial for his school football team. When Dan realised that he could be a footballer he sent out his cv to newspapers and to football clubs. The only people that replied were Arsenal Football Club. When he finally got the job at Arsenal Football Club he done all their odd jobs. Soon it was time to leave so he got a job with the F.A.
The F.A was a dream job, he loved football but wasnt good enough to play so instead he worked on their website. Soon he came up with a brilliant idea to improve the website, to interview the England football team - he got that job too! So Dan travelled the world with the England football team and got to be friends with stars like David Beckham, Rio Ferdinand and Steven Gerrard!
Dan also read us a section from his new book 'The Kick Off' all about a young boy Jermaine Jackson who follows his dream to become a footballer. We loved the book and really enjoyed meeting Dan.
